Keith J. Krach Chairman — Co-Founder, Former Chairman, President & CEO Ariba
Keith Krach was named one of the top ten entrepreneurs of 1998 by Red Herring magazine. He is responsible for the strategic direction of Ariba Technologies, the company named Best Managed privately-held hi-tech company of 1998 by Red Herring magazine. Prior to co-founding Ariba Technologies, Keith was chief operating officer of Rasna Corporation, a successful mechanical computer-aided design automation software company. Keith was instrumental in Rasna's early inception, its achievement as the fastest growing privately held software company in 1994, and its successful merger with Parametric Technology Corporation in 1995. Keith also brings ten years experience from General Motors, where he was vice president and general manager of GMF Robotics. Keith holds a BS in industrial engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from Harvard University.
Michael L. DeRosa Board Member — Managing Director, DFJ Element
Michael has been investing in venture capital and private equity transactions in the clean technology sector for nine years, and joined Element in 2006. His primary areas of focus include advanced materials, alternative fuels, green building materials, energy technology, and alternative chemicals.
Prior to Element, Michael was a partner in Cordova Ventures' Industrial Technology Fund. At Cordova, Michael worked on all aspects of fund operations and served on the Fund's investment committee. Prior to Cordova, Michael was a principal at EnerTech Capital Partners. Before starting his private equity career, Michael was a management consultant at Booz-Allen & Hamilton focusing on the aerospace, building controls, and consumer products industries. Michael has also worked in the finance area at Ford Motor Company and in operations management at Weirton Steel.
Michael serves on the boards of directors of companies including Apex Construction Systems, Inc., Aspex Corp., and EcoSMART Technologies, Inc. Previous boards on which Michael has served as a member or observer include Arbinet-thexchange, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARBX), Avista Advantage, Inc., Axonn, LLC, Ecovation, Inc., Five Star Technologies, Inc., International Fiber, and Nanomix, Inc. Michael was also previously involved in Safeguard International's initial investment in REC, a Norwegian solar power company, and worked closely with the boards at Catalytic Solutions, Inc. and Orcom Solutions, Inc.
Michael holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech where he graduated first in his class. Michael received a Masters degree in Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated as a Palmer Scholar (Top 5%).
Curtis Feeny Board Member — Managing Director, Voyager Capital
Prior to joining Voyager in 2000, Curtis Feeny spent eight years as the Executive Vice President at Stanford University's $9-billion endowment. He held wide responsibilities in private equity investing and management, including oversight of the Stanford Research Park, Stanford Shopping Center, portfolio policy, and venture investing (carrying bottom-line profit responsibility for about half the Stanford Management Company). Before joining Stanford University, Curtis spent five years leading Trammell Crow's northwest region in Seattle. He was responsible for $700 million in assets and ran a full-scale development operation covering Seattle, Portland, and Vancouver, B.C. Prior to joining Trammell Crow, he worked in the semiconductor industry for Mostek Semiconductor and was in Research & Development in the energy industry. He serves on the board of directors for Contivo, Inc., Tropos Networks, Verari Systems and Trammell Crow Company (NYSE: TCC). He was recently appointed to the Presidential Appointment to the Presidio Trust.
Curtis graduated magna cum laude from Texas A&M University with a bachelor of science in Mechanical Engineering. He earned a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School, where he was a Tandy Fellow and a Rockwell Scholar.
Bryant J. Tong Board Member — Managing Director, Nth Power
Bryant Tong joined Nth Power in 2001 as a Managing Director and has led Nth Power's investments in Accelergy Corporation, NanoGram Corporation and Microposite, Inc. He serves on the board of each of these companies.
Previously, Bryant was founder, President and CEO of Pacific Venture Capital, LLC (PVC), the venture capital arm of the PG&E Corporation. At PVC, he led investments in the energy and telecommunications sectors. Prior to joining PVC, he co-founded ReSourcePhoenix, Inc. (RPC) and successfully took the company public. Bryant served as part of the senior management group at Phoenix American, Inc. where he worked with Phoenix Growth Capital (PGC). He also served for four years as a senior member of the audit staff of Ernst and Young.
Bryant received his Bachelor of Science in business administration from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and several industry advisory boards including the Energy Venture Fair and the Golden Capital Network. Bryant founded and chairs the China/U.S. Energy Efficiency Alliance, and he also serves on the University of San Francisco Entrepreneurship Program Advisory Board.
Marc W. Carlson President and CEO
Mr. Carlson was an early employee at Ariba, Inc. where he held a variety of executive management and sales management positions including VP General Manager of the Global Automotive Industrial Aerospace Group. Prior to Ariba, Marc helped expand Rasna into a successful acquisition target for PTC (1995 $500M transaction). Before joining Rasna, Marc spent time at General Motors and GMF Robotics in manufacturing, sales and engineering positions and then managed product planning and marketing. Marc holds a BS in mechanical engineering and an MBA from Purdue University.
Bruce A. Potts CFO and VP of Operations
Mr. Potts joined the Executive Management of Haden International Group as CFO shortly after it was formed through a management buyout from the former UK parent company Haden MacLellan Holdings. Prior to Haden, Bruce was one of the founders of GMF Robotics where he held Executive Officer positions responsible for finance, accounting and human resources (CFO), manufacturing, facilities and customer support (Sr. Vice President), and engineering and sales (CEO of European operations, VP and General Manager of a US division). Prior to the formation of GMF Robotics, Bruce worked for General Motors for 10 years. Bruce holds a BS in industrial administration from Kettering University (formerly GMI) and an MBA from Wharton.
