Light, Easy, and Safe to Install

Installation

We designed Microposite to minimize not only the headaches associated with other wood siding alternatives—but also the backaches. Because it weighs 50% less than fiber cement, Microposite is easier to handle and transport. The lighter boards can also help reduce on-site injuries while allowing for faster installation, which means cost savings in time and labor.

Our boards are simple to cut and nail using standard woodworking  tools—no special tools required. Plus, installers can be assured that no harmful substances are produced when cutting.

Care and Maintenance

Finishing: All surfaces must be clean and dry prior to finishing. Always follow paint and caulk manufacturer's instructions for proper preparation, application, and maintenance. For application spread rates, refer to paint and caulk manufacturers specifications.

Patching: Dents, scratches and chips can be filled using a high quality exterior patching compound which can be found at your local home center or hardware store.

Caulking: Use a high quality exterior-grade caulk that meets ASTM Standard C-920. Be sure the caulk is paintable and compatible with Microposite Siding Products.

Painting: Microposite Siding Products must have the finish coat applied within 180 days of installation. Use high quality exterior acrylic latex paint finishes only. For best results, 2 coats of un-thinned paint (approximately 1.5 dry mils each) are recommended. When high quality paints are applied in this manner, you should get a minimum of 12-15 years of service before repainting is required. See paint manufacturer's warranty for details.

Maintenance: Wash siding once a year. Keep the painted surface free of mold, mildew and algae. Remove mold/mildew using a commercial mold/mildew remover. Consult your paint manufacturer's recommendations before applying any mold/mildew remover. Remove/replace missing or damaged caulking around the joints and seams where different surfaces meet. Use mild detergent (non-abrasive) to clean dirty areas. A soft bristle brush is recommended (Do not use a pressure washer).
